Dr. Shouvik Ponnusamy
Dr. Shouvik Ponnusamy “Dr. Samy” is a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. Dr. Samy is trained extensively in comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgery. He specializes in placement of dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, bone and soft tissue regeneration and ambulatory anesthesia. Dr. Samy pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He was then accepted into the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry, where he served as President of the Academic Chapter of the Chicago Dental Society, while earning his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. Upon graduation from dental school, he was elected to the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors Society. He then completed his rigorous and comprehensive surgical training at the University of Illinois Chicago Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Samy practices compassionate and patient-centered care. He has additionally published novel surgical techniques in peer reviewed medical journals and has presented his research at international scientific meetings. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, and two young children.
